Collaborative Divorce in Chilliwack, BC

A Different

Way Forward.

Divorce and separation can be difficult, but they don’t always have to become a battle.

Collaborative Divorce is an approach that brings professionals together to help couples and families navigate separation in a more respectful, constructive, and family-focused way.

We can work alongside parents, children, families, and lawyers

to help everyone move through significant change.

Supporting the

Whole Family.

Separation doesn’t only affect the two people ending their relationship. Children, extended family, routines, communication, finances, living arrangements, and parenting relationships can all be impacted.

Parents may need help navigating difficult conversations and establishing a new co-parenting relationship.

Children and teenagers may need their own safe space to process changes happening within their family.

The goal isn’t to keep a family exactly as it was. It’s to help everyone adjust to what the family is becoming.

Parenting Relationship Continues

Helping Parents
Work Together

The relationship between partners may be ending, but when children are involved, the parenting relationship continues.

Counselling can help parents work through communication challenges, manage conflict, understand how separation may be affecting their children, and develop healthier ways of making decisions together.

The focus is on helping parents move from being partners to becoming effective co-parents while keeping the wellbeing of their children at the centre of the process.

Set Them Up For Success

Support for
Children and Teens

Children can experience separation very differently from adults, and even siblings within the same family may respond in completely different ways.

Some children may have questions. Others may experience anger, anxiety, sadness, confusion, or changes in behaviour. Some may simply need a safe place where they don’t feel caught between their parents.

Depending on their age and needs, our therapists can use individual counselling, Play Therapy, and other therapeutic approaches to help children and teens understand and process what they are experiencing.

Katlyn, Jen, and Terresa are members of the Collaborative Association of the Lower Mainland (CALM), connecting our team with a broader community of professionals committed to helping families navigate separation and divorce collaboratively.

Through CALM, professionals from different disciplines work to support a more respectful, cooperative approach to separation, with an emphasis on communication, problem-solving, and the wellbeing of the family.

Their involvement with CALM helps strengthen Inner Balance Solutions’ ability to support individuals and families as part of a larger collaborative team, while bringing our counselling and family-focused perspective to the process.
