SUPPORTING THE COMMUNITY OF CHILLIWACK

Because we're in

this together.

Caring for people goes beyond the work we do in the office. As a team, we are actively involved in supporting our community in meaningful and practical ways.

From initiatives like the Memiethyl donation drive each Christmas to events like the annual Pumpkin Drop, we look for opportunities to give back and be present in the community. These moments are not just about fundraising, they are about connection, generosity, and showing up for others.

We also invest in the next generation of care. Our interns work alongside local partner organizations such as Ruth & Naomi’s Mission, gaining real experience while providing support to individuals who need it most.

Keira's Story

In November 2017, my daughter, Keira, had a terrible accident which left her with second and third-degree burns on over 25 percent of her body. She’d been severely scalded while carrying a tray of hot drinks, and, over the next few days, her condition became critical as she developed a severe fever due to her injuries.

Medics rushed Keira to the ICU at BC Children’s Hospital in Vancouver, where she spent days being stabilized as the doctors fought to save her life. Thankfully, they stabilized her enough to be moved to the pediatric burn unit, where she stayed for another ten days.

But this was only the start of her journey...

The following summer, Keira attended Burn Camp, a place designed for young burn survivors to connect, build confidence, and feel understood. That experience made a lasting impact on her. For the first time since her accident, she was surrounded by others who truly understood what she had been through.

When she learned that Burn Camp depends on donations to send kids each year, she wanted to help.

For her birthday, she chose to ask for donations instead of gifts. What started as a small idea quickly grew into something much bigger, with support from friends, family, and the local community. Together, they raised over ten thousand dollars to help other children attend camp.

Today, Keira continues her recovery

and still attends regular appointments. Her journey is not over, but it has become something more. It is now a story of resilience, generosity, and community.

As a family, we continue to support burn survivors and the organizations that helped us. Our goal is simple. To give back, to raise awareness, and to remind others that even in the hardest moments no has to go it alone.

Supporting

Burn Survivors

Organizations like the BC Professional Fire Fighters Burn Fund provide critical support, funding recovery programs, and promoting burn prevention across the province.

Their work ensures that survivors and families receive the care, resources, and community they need.

The Chilliwack Firefighters Charitable Society was formed to allow local firefighters to support local charities.

They’ve supported everything from the Salvation Army, Chilliwack Hospice Society and Fraser Valley Health right through to the Ann Davis Transition House and, of course, the Burn Fund. They organize many local events so that the people of Chilliwack can show their support.
